Petr Popelka makes his debut with Opernhaus Zürich to conduct Don Giovanni

This week, Petr Popelka makes his debut with Opernhaus Zürich to conduct Mozart’s Don Giovanni, in a revival of Sebastian Baumgarten’s acclaimed 2013 production. The opera famously received its premiere in 1787 at the Estates Theatre in Prague, Petr’s hometown.

No stranger to the work, Petr has previously performed Don Giovanni numerous times as a member of Staatskapelle Dresden in the orchestra pit. It also follows Petr’s recent album release of Mozart: Symphonies Nos. 39 & 40 on LAWO Classics, as he continues to champion the composer.

Don Giovanni runs for five performances on 23, 27 September, & 5, 10, 14 October. Book tickets.

Looking ahead, Petr returns to the opera pit to conduct a new production of Weinberger’s Schwanda the Bagpiper, which opens at the Theater an der Wien on Saturday 18 November.
