February 27, 2024
Following his successful North American debut with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra last month, in which the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette praised him as ‘absolutely a name to watch for in future seasons’, Petr Popelka returns to the US for his debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, jumping in for Herbert Blomstedt.
Popelka will conduct the originally programmed Schubert Symphony No.6 and Beethoven Symphony No.7, in addition to Mendelssohn Hebrides Overture, which Popelka added.
‘It’s amazing… Not in my wildest dreams would I ever think about it. Stepping in with this orchestra, it’s something absolutely extraordinary.’ – Petr Popelka
